Concept

To create a spot to promote Caesar’s Army A.M.Bush event. Our partners with the Army wanted to create a futuristic world complete with destroyed cities, burning buildings, a futuristic NAPA and, of course, robots. Our solution involved some matte painting, modeling and a little creativity.

Process

Create an animated feature using matte digital painting to create realistic landscapes and inject it with a bit of life by overlaying elements of smoke, dust and fire alongside rigged 3D models.

Impression

An innovative feature for a bold, forward-thinking brand.

MediaMill Art Director Mark Alvarez teamed up with VFX Superstar Crystal Samuel to deliver a spot for Caesar’s Army A.M.Bush event.

Mark comments “Typically, when we’re doing promos for carnival events or things like that we have a pretty general idea on how we’re going to approach it. This one was a bit different and we got a chance to try some things we wouldn’t normally. We utilized our standard toolkit of After Effects and Photoshop but got to play around in Cinema 4D and even a bit of Maya for good measure. It took a lot of exceptional artistic talent and traditional VFX knowledge and methods to achieve this look and make everything come together realistically.”
